2019 Bullion from Perth
2019 Bullion Designs
The Perth Mint has released its 2019 bullion coin designs, and the target release dates for the bullion line. Like many major mints, the Perth Mint produces bullion coins in silver, gold, and platinum.
While the Perth Mint has released the line of Australian bullion coins, there have in past years been additional bullion coins not included in the early information. This brings about the question of whether or not the list is complete this year. Last year the one-third ounce platinum penguin was a major omission. Another was the rectangular dragon coin. Then, there are coins of bullion grade like the emu that sell at a high premium. None of these were included in the annual bullion video that is intended to show the Australian bullion line.
The Perth Mint is responsible for the Australian bullion coinage, and much of the Australian commemorative coinage. The Royal Australian Mint handles the circulating coins, and some of the commemorative coins.
Last year, in addition to the Australian bullion the Perth Mint issued bullion coins for Tuvalu, a small island nation. Also, bullion bars are produced annually.
Changes for 2019 Bullion Coins
The three coins that define Australia, the kookaburra, the kangaroo, and the koala, will now include a micro-laser engraved letter in their reverse designs. This is to prevent counterfeiting.
Also new is the Jody Clark effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, in which she is depicted wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem. And, Australian ferna is now being represented on the coins.
The Perth Mint standards for bullion coins is 99.99 purity for gold and silver, and 99.95 for platinum.
The Lunar 2019 Bullion Coins
Year of the Pig
The first bullion coin to be released by the Perth Mint for 2019 is the Lunar Pig, a coin in its second lunar series. As traditional for the Perth Mint, the gold and the silver coins have different designs.
The gold coins include the one kilogram, ten-ounce, two-ounce, one-ounce, half-ounce, quarter-ounce, tenth-ounce, and twentieth-ounce sizes. The silver coins include the ten-kilogram, one-kilogram, ten-ounce, five-ounce, two-ounce, one-ounce, and half-ounce sizes.
The release date for these coins is September 10, 2019.
The 2019 Bullion Kookaburra
The Oldest Perth Mint Bullion Series
The silver kookaburra has been around since 1990. The image changes annually.
These coins include the one-kilogram, ten-ounce, and one-ounce sizes.
The 2019 bullion kookaburra is scheduled for release October 1, 2019. This is a very popular coin series.
The Newest Bullion series
While there has been a kangaroo coin from the Royal Australian Mint for many years, the Perth Mint kangaroo series is a relatively new coin series. This series uses the same image from year to year. The inclusion of fauna may depart from this, but the image is essentially the same as it has been. It is the only bullion series of the Perth Mint to cover all three precious metals, gold, silver, and platinum.
The gold kangaroo coins include the one-kilogram, one-ounce, half-ounce, quarter-ounce, and tenth-ounce sizes.
The silver and the platinum coins are to be minted only as one-ounce coins.
The kangaroo is scheduled for release on November 5, 2019.
The Last Release
The koala changes its image annually. This coin is minted only in silver.
The coin is minted in the one-kilogram and one-ounce sizes.
The koala is scheduled for release on January 7, 2019.
